Poor Solstice...
And I don’t know what GM was thinking with that wind deflector. You actually have to drill holes to install the damn thing.

Half of GM’s employees don’t know what GM is/was thinking.

Especially there are aftermarket solutions out there that doesn’t, and are of better materials. I have one that just slots in the middle of the trunk and looks much cleaner.

Actually they were out of a job years ago. Wilmington was sold to Fisker, a Chinese company and up for sale again.

This is the ideal male body. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.

and yet there’s no reason to cover it in the first place, at least not a legitimate one that I’ve heard yet. It’s visible in public at all times....

This side of the pond you can clone a car with the use of a licence plate, clone as in the way to avoid speeding fines, lack of car insurance, etc... by it looking like another car.
Yes the vehicle is in plain site, but say you have a red Vauxhall Astra five door.
If you stick any licence plate on that doesn’t match the outward appearance of the vehicle it will flag up ANPR and Parking Eye cameras.
So copying the licence plate from these would be a red flag.
So if you find one on the internet after doing a quick search that matches, you can make some plates up that will let you skirt around a lot of o bstacles.
It’s not a common issue these days but it still happens and has happened sufficiently enough that people don’t want their licence plate out there.
Which is why I cover the plates up of the cars I clean.

A car and a brand we might still have around , if only they’d given them all bigger grilles.

Interesting, I mean, I guess you could do that here, too. I feel like it would be easy to get caught, though. If you ever got stopped, for example. And you could do it
IRL but it would be harder to find the same year, make, model vs. going on the internet I suppose.

With many places using cameras either as a method to catch speeders, red light jumpers, etc... and sending the fine through the post it’s hard to catch them in the act without some prior intelligence being given to the police.
Even police fixed and vehicle based ANPR cameras. The officer is looking out for things out the ordinary while the cameras are checking licence plates against the MOT (vehicle inspection) database, association of national insurers, the police national computer database (for markers such as known drink driver, drug user, career criminal, etc...), DVLC (vehicle licencing and registration) database, etc... and pinging if the computer comes back with something on the car while usually opens a can of worms for other offences to be found.
So if you’ve got the licence plate copied from a car whose owner has no convictions, no history with the police, car is taxed, insured and road worthy, etc... the car won’t get stopped by the police.

yeah, that makes sense.
So we can still agree that using your foot is not the best method of plate-covering, right? lol
